The Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat) in cooperation with Plekhanov Russian University of Economics is organizing a conference on Statistical capacity building for monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals to be held on November 30 – December 1, 2017 in Moscow (Russian Federation).
In September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution 70/1 Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is based on 17 goals and 169 targets, aimed at eradicating poverty, preserving the planet's resources and ensuring well-being for all. The implementation of SDGs to a great extent depends on effective analysis and monitoring of the process at all levels: sub-national, national and international. The main aim of the Conference is to review and share the best practices of the SDGs monitoring. The conference will gather experts in SDG monitoring, representatives of national statistical offices as well as other government bodies, international organizations, scientific community and media.
RASt takes part in organizing the Round table "Expanding of the program of socio-demographic surveys to assess the achievement of indicators of sustainable development". The round table will discuss the issues of introduction to the Russian practice of indexes, designed for the comprehensive assessment of the household incomes and living conditions in the Russian regions, as well as improvement of the programme of the Rosstat's household income survey to harmonize it with the European survey on income and living conditions of households. The leading Russian experts and Rosstat officials as well as experts from the UN, Eurostat, Gallup Institute and other research organizations were invited to participate in the discussion.
